Buy-ins started at $580 and went up to $10,000 for the Big Big Baller High Roller tournament that guaranteed $500,000. The series ran September 8–17, 2025, and featured over $6.5 million in guarantees. Anderson, who had already won two bracelets during this year’s series, moved all in after a three-bet with pocket deuces, but Peters woke up with 9♠9♣. Winning consecutive bracelets in mixed-game championship events requires a level of versatility and stamina that few players possess. Since 1972, the Main Event of the WSOP has been the $10,000 buy-in no-limit Texas Hold ‘em (NLHE) tournament (in 1971 the buy-in was $5,000 and the inaugural 1970 event was an invitational with winner determined by a vote from the players). It dates its origins to 1970, when Benny Binion invited seven of the best-known poker players to the Horseshoe Casino for a single tournament, with a set start and stop time, and a winner determined by a secret ballot of the seven players.

That’s why I’ll join APT events as often as my schedule allows. So apart from the summer WSOP series in Las Vegas, I spend most of my time in Asia.
